Employee Development Committee

Ohio’s Employee Development Committee is the focal point for training in Ohio’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). NRCS and partnership employees representing all disciplines serve as members and are appointed to a two-year term.

Our Vision:

To develop a highly skilled workforce by providing and enhancing the necessary skills needed to efficiently and effectively put conservation on the land.

Our Mission:

To provide timely, sequential, competency-based training, fundamental to our business of resource conservation through providing guidance and making recommendations to the State Conservationist to help ensure that training efforts lead to an accomplishment of a better trained workforce.

Goals:

  • Establish and maintain a structured training program based by discipline in Ohio.
  • Identify and address critical issues related to training.
  • Work with and communicate items pertaining to training schedules to Training Officer, Ohio Leadership Team and STC.
  • Assist employees and supervisors in the delivery of training.

Employee Development Plans

Three (3) Employee Development Plans and an Individual Development Plan are available.  These three plans and the IDP are seperate tabs on the single Excel spreadsheet posted here.  Instructions for Trainers are also available.

Training Tools for Students

SCEP Trainees Only

Supervisors are required to complete the evaluation worksheet for students (provided separately) at the end of the training period and review it with the employee. Note: The employee is required to complete the “Student Training Evaluation” and note accomplishments.

Copies of the Evaluation worksheet for students and the Student Training Evaluation worksheet will be submitted the Area Office or Second Level Supervisor after completion of each training period. The training plans will be sent to the trainee’s supervisor when the trainee returns for each subsequent period of employment.
