EQIP Educational Funds Empower College To Help Its Community
NRCS Grasslands Management Systems Specialist Bob Hendershot helped lead a
grazing clinic at Wilmington College at the college’s greatly improved Fife
Avenue Farm.
The
clinic showcased the power of combining EQIP dollars with matching college funds
and with community support for a program redesigned to benefit southwestern
Ohio. Approximately 30 people attended the rainy Saturday clinic, including
members of the community and students and faculty of the college.
Hendershot said, “NRCS has given an educational grant to Wilmington College.
It blends in real well with their goal to have an agricultural outreach to the
farming community. We are looking at an alternative use for highly erodible,
marginal cropland that is utilizing livestock to diversify the farmer’s income.”
