After a hayride tour of the facility, breakout sessions were offered in aquaculture, growing berries, development of cooperatives, and forestry.

NRCS Outreach Coordinator Tomika Walker organized the tour. Walker said, “At the Minority Farmers’ Conference held on March 23, 2002, several farmers indicated that they were interested in alternative enterprises such as aquaculture and berries. They also suggested that they wanted a tour and picnic along with the breakout sessions. Therefore, I contacted OSU Extension’s South Centers and asked them if they could host this event. This was an excellent opportunity for Ohio farmers to learn more about alternative enterprises, network with each other, and meet agency people that could provide additional assistance.”
