Reader USA JobsNRCS Vacancy AnnouncementsStudent Career Experience ProgramThe Student Career Experience Program (SCEP) provides an opportunity for undergraduate students pursuing a bachelor’s degree to participate in planned on-the-job training during the summer while attending college during the school year. Students selected to participate in this program must complete a minimum of 640 hours prior to graduating to be considered for full-time employment. Students must also be willing to move to any location in Ohio for both training in the SCEP and upon graduation. Student trainees will work both outdoors and indoors with farmers and other land users. They will recommend and document methods to conserve soil, improve water quality, and protect wildlife habitat to bring about land use changes that improve the quality of the environment. Only freshman and sophomore students may apply. Students must be working towards a 4-year degree majoring in a field of study in:

Reader Agricultural Conservation Enrollees/SeniorsACES workers will help NRCS employees with survey, design, installation, checkout and follow-up for NRCS programs; develop materials for agricultural air quality issues; and process data for Farm Bill program ranking, tracking and payments. ACES participants are not federal employees and cannot displace NRCS employees. They earn benefits and work 20 to 40 hours a week under the guidance of an NRCS employee. ACES evolved from and complements the Technical Service Provider initiative to expand conservation technical assistance capacity on private lands and help landowners meet their conservation goals.
