Student Temporary Employment Program

Soil Conservationist

STUDENT TRAINEE POSITIONS: The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is looking for full-time students who are interested in working as student trainees through the Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP), and who are interested in pursuing a career with Agriculture.  Employment is not to exceed three months, beginning upon completion of the academic year.

As a student trainee, you will work both outdoors and indoors with farmers and other land users. You will recommend and document methods to conserve soil, improve water quality, and protect wildlife habitat to bring about land use changes that improve the quality of the environment.

CRITERIA:

  • Freshman and Sophomore students only
  • Working towards a 4-year degree
  • Majoring in a field of study in:
    • Soil conservation
    • Natural resources
    • Biology
    • Environmental science
    • Agronomy
    • Soil science
    • Forestry

LOCATION: The locations will be determined following a review of the applications.
