Part 403 - Directives, Forms, and Reports
Subpart A - DirectivesOH403.8 Maintaining Directives.
- Filing.
(1) General Manual. All National Headquarters issuances for the General Manual
are now online at http://policy.nrcs.usda.gov/scripts/lpsiis.dll/GM/GM.htm.
Therefore, paper copies are no longer required to be printed and filed in
binders at the area and field office levels. The State Office will no longer
maintain paper copies of the General Manual.
(i) Ohio amendments/supplements to the General Manual. The State, area, and
field offices are to maintain Ohio amendments/supplements to the General Manual
until State office managers have reviewed, updated (or canceled), and placed on
the Ohio web site amendments/supplements from prior years. Ohio
amendments/supplements to the General Manual prepared during fiscal years 2004
and 2005 have been placed on the Ohio web site at
http://www.oh.nrcs.usda.gov/intranet/GenManual/oh_gen_manual_home.html.
(ii) Employees are responsible for ensuring that the latest versions of the
General Manual and amendments are being used by checking the national and Ohio
web sites.
(iii) Offices and/or employees are encouraged to maintain paper copies of the
General Manual and Ohio amendments on an as needed basis.
(2) Topical Manuals and Handbooks.
(i) Ohio amendments/supplements to the National Engineering Manual are on the
Ohio web site at
http://www.oh.nrcs.usda.gov/intranet/NEM/oh_nem_home_2.html.
(ii) Ohio amendments/supplements to the Agricultural Waste Management Field
Handbook, Engineering Field Handbook, and Geology Technical Notes are the on the
Ohio web site at
http://www.oh.nrcs.usda.gov/technical/engineering/references/tech_refs.html.
(3) Ohio bulletins. All Ohio bulletins are posted on the Ohio web site at
http://www.oh.nrcs.usda.gov/intranet/Admin/oh_bulletins_home.html. New bulletins
posted will be announced to all Ohio employees via an e-mail message which will
include a link to the bulletin.
(i) Once announced, employees are responsible for accessing online bulletins to
ensure that they are aware of current information.
(ii) Paper copies will not be distributed unless it is determined by the State
office manager responsible for the bulletin that paper copies are needed.
Exception: Personnel bulletins will be placed online and paper copies will also
be mailed.
(iii) Online bulletins will no longer need to be printed and maintained in
State, area, or field offices.
(iv) Offices and/or employees should maintain paper copies of Ohio bulletins on
an as needed basis.
(v) Prior year Ohio bulletins will be archived online and will be reviewed
annually by State office staff and canceled according to directives policy in
National Instruction 120-301 dated October 1994.
