OHIO RC&D COORDINATOR HONORED AS
NATIONAL COORDINATOR OF THE YEAR

COLUMBUS, May 9, 2008 - Sandy Chenal, RC&D Coordinator of Ohio’s Crossroads RC&D, was named as RC&D Coordinator of the Year for 2007. In 2007, Ms. Chanel won regional RC&D Coordinator of the Year. The regional winners were then pooled for selection of national Coordinator of the Year for 2007. Ms. Chenal traveled to Washington, D.C. to receive her award.

Ms. Chenal, a native of Wayne County, Ohio has served as Crossroads RC&D Coordinator since 1992. During that time, Ms. Chanel has demonstrated exceptional dedication, guiding the Crossroads RC&D Council to become a model in direction and purpose. Her efforts include providing grant writing workshops, introducing the council to the VISTA program, and recruiting non members to serve on RC&D project committees. She has worked diligently with many watershed organizations further demonstrating an excellent ability as a Coordinator. Ms. Chenal has been an advocate for ensuring that the Crossroads RC&D Council strives to provide service to all. An excellent facilitator, she dedicates her heart and soul to the betterment of the council.

Terry Cosby, State Conservationist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) which administers the RC&D program, recognizes Ms. Chanel’s outstanding performance as an RC&D Coordinator. “Sandy’s positive attitude, boundless energy, commitment and sense of humor make her an asset to any organization. She represents the very best NRCS has to offer, and is a government employee truly dedicated to public service. She is very deserving of this award.”

Ms. Chenal was selected for this award from 375 RC&D Coordinators across the nation.

Administered by the United States Department of Agriculture, the purpose of the RC&D Program is to expand opportunities for Soil and Water Conservation Districts, county governments and individuals to improve their communities in multi-county areas through the formation of regional non-profit organizations.
