Ohio RC&D Councils

From its beginnings in 1964, the RC & D program has helped thousands of people throughout the United States in the areas of resource conservation, economic development, environmental concerns, and social resources.   RC&D Councils are true federal, state, local and private partnership organizations. Local County Commissioners and Soil & Water Conservation Districts (SWCD) sponsor each RC&D in Ohio. These sponsors, as well as others, pay dues to the not-for-profit RC&D Council. They also appoint members to the boards of the councils. These board members prioritize local needs and identify and lead efforts to implement projects to meet community needs.

What RC&D Councils Do
As not-for-profit organizations, RC&D Councils have the ability to leverage federal, state, local and private dollars to accomplish projects. Councils also provide professional consulting services to communities in project management, networking and resource management.

National RC&D Week

RC&D Week was declared in recognition of that program which has grown from 10 to 375 designated areas covering 85% of our country. There are nine RC&D Councils for Ohio’s 88 counties, including the Buckeye Hills RC&D, Crossroads RC&D, Erie Basin RC&D, Heart of Ohio RC&D, Maumee Valley RC&D, Miami Valley RC&D, Ohio Valley RC&D, Top of Ohio RC&D, and Western Reserve RC&D(see map)

In celebrating National RC & D week, we would like to thank all of those council members over the years who have donated their time and talents to make our corner of Ohio a better place to live, work and play.
