Western Lake Erie Basin Partnership (WLEB)

"The Western Lake Erie Basin Partnership is a tri-state partnership dedicated to enhancing multi-purpose projects that improve land and water resource management in the basin and promote a healthy, productive watershed."

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture - Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) invited 14 Federal, State, and regional partners to attend the first meeting of a Leadership Group designed to create a comprehensive watershed management partnership and framework for the Western Lake Erie Basin (WLEB) Study on November 7, 2005 in Defiance, Ohio.   The WLEB Charter was agreed to on March 29, 2006.

Since it's inception, the WLEB Partnership has collaborate on numerous projects ranging from watershed assessments, water monitoring, database development, GIS data layer development, and environmental education outreach

A WLEB web site was launched in 2007.  On this site partnership documents, including the WLEB Charter, WLEB project news releases, the WLEB newsletter, a calendar of events, and much more can be found. 

EcoTrak LogoThe most recent project sponsored in part by the WLEB is the EcoTrak 11 environmental news program broadcast by WTOL-11 in Toledo, Ohio.  A kick-off event was held at the station and a news release issued to inform the public of this exciting program.  Check it out!
