Ohio Resource Conserving Crops for CSP (2009)
Identify for use in the Ohio, resource conserving
crops that will be part of a resource-conserving crop rotation(s) that may
receive a supplemental payment if adopted by a CSP participant.
The definitions and lists of resource conserving
crops are:
1.
A perennial grass, legume, or grass/legume grown for use as forage, seed for
planting, or green manure. Grasses and legumes that meet this criteria are:
A. Legumes
- Alfalfa
- Alsike Clover
- Birdsfoot Trefoil
- Crownvetch
- Kura Clover
- Red Cover
- White Clover
B.
Cool Season Grasses
- Fescue, Tall
- Fescue, Turf-Type Tall
- Garrison Creeping Foxtail
- Kentucky bluegrass
- Orchargrass
- Perennial Ryegrass
- Reed Canarygrass
- Smooth Bromegrass
- Timothy
- Wildrye, Canadian
- Wildrye, Virginia
C.
Warm Season Grasses
- Big Bluestem
- Little Bluestem
- Eastern Gamagrass
- Indiangrass
- Switchgrass
- Lespedeza
2.
High residue producing crops
- Corn (grain not silage)
- Small grain (winter or spring) Stubble left taller than 8”
- Any Hay in Rotation

A cover crop following an annual crop
