The following chart shows the total acres of conservation buffers installed each year beginning with FY 1996 and ending with FY 2003.

Dip in 1999 shows year in which cost share incentives were reduced. CREP
was launched in 2001. Low number in 2000 reflects landowners waiting for
announcement of CREP Program. Peak in 2001 reflects 2 years CREP dollars
being available in one calendar year.

In Fiscal Year 1997, 4,244 acres were installed.
In Fiscal Year 1998, 7,536 acres were installed.
In Fiscal Year 1999, 2,499 acres were installed.
In Fiscal Year 2000, 3,706 acres were installed.
In Fiscal Year 2001, 11,332 acres were installed.
In Fiscal Year 2002, 7,628 acres were installed.
In Fiscal Year 2003, 4,029 acres were installed and 3,728 acres were in process.
