2006 Conservation Security Program

The 3rd CSP Sign-Up Ended March 31, 2006.

CSP is a voluntary program that rewards agricultural producers who have a documented history of good land stewardship. The Natural Resources Conservation Service administers this program and provides financial and technical assistance to eligible producers.

The Upper Great Miami Watershed and the Shenango Watershed in Ohio were selected to participate in CSP in 2006.

Definitions

Pastured Cropland

Pastured Cropland is defined for Ohio 2006 Conservation Security Program purposes as a pasture field that contains at least 90% area that is Land Capability Class I – IV. Land area shall be determined based on soil survey map unit acreage. Where possible, digital soil maps and Toolkit/GIS capabilities should be used to make the determination when a visual evaluation cannot give an obvious determination.

Fields that contains more than 10% Class V, VI or VII land will be classified as Pastureland, not Pastured Cropland. Determinations shall be made on a field by field basis and based on field boundaries used for conservation planning purposes.

Land designated as pastured cropland will receive a CSP payment at the cropland rate regardless of the land use as pastureland.
