The Hocking Watershed covers approximately 754,900 acres in Fairfield, Perry, Morgan,
Athens, Washington, Meigs and Hocking Counties in south central Ohio.
Land use in this watershed includes forestland, cropland, and pasture land.
Residential land use has increased recently, although in most areas rural
housing is predominant.
In the Hocking Watershed there are about 1,847 farms covering approximately
280,704 acres. Forage is the primary crop in the watershed. Other crops
include soybeans, corn for grain and wheat for grain.
Pastureland in the Hocking Watershed consists of about 77,400 acres.
Much of this is good quality cool season grass pasture.
