Watershed DescriptionThe Little Muskingum-Middle Island Watershed covers approximately 551,500 acres in Noble, Guernsey, Monroe and Washington Counties in southeast Ohio and Harrison, Lewis, Ritchie, Wetzel, Wood, Doddridge, Marshall, Tyler, Marion and Pleasants Counties in West Virginia. Land use in this watershed includes private forest land, pasture land, crop land and federal forest land. In the Little Muskingum-Middle Island Watershed there are about 2,441 farms covering approximately 397,939 acres. The average farm size is 160 acres. Forage is the primary crop. Other crops include corn for grain and soybeans. Pastureland in the Little Muskingum-Middle Island Watershed consists of about 76,400 acres. Much of this is cool season grass pasture. Land Cover/Use
