CADalog- Forward
The CADalog is a collection of Standard Drawings and Standard
Details in CAD format that can typically be used in a set of construction
drawings. The drawings and details contained herein are ones that have been made available
for inclusion in this book. The intent of this book is to make this collection of
drawings and details available to all offices whether or not an office has a CADD
system.
This book can be used as a reference, i.e., it would be a source
to refer to when assembling a set of construction drawings. For example, the
designer could "pick and choose" several standard details from this book and assemble
them onto one sheet using AutoCAD (or another CADD software), thus producing an
original drawing for a specific project. If the designer does not have a CADD system
to use, then he or she could contact the field engineer or technician and request that
a sheet be assembled. The same idea applies to the use of a standard drawing; an
original could be plotted each time for each project.
All the drawings and details shown in this book can be
downloaded from the NRCS-Ohio web site (http://www.oh.nrcs.usda.gov/engineering/cadd2.html) in
a format that is compatible with the AutoCAD software. If you are using
something other than AutoCAD, these files can be translated into ASCII format so that
you can use them with your software.
The CADalog will be distributed to all offices in Ohio. It will
be maintained and updated by the state CADD coordinator. Distribution will be done
by NRCS bulletin. All CADD users are encouraged to submit drawings for inclusion
in the CADalog. The more sharing of drawings/details that we do, the less
duplication of work we will be doing. The drawings/details contained in this book are supplied
for everyone's use if you want to use them. The CADalog is not intended to be the one
and only source of drawings/details; it is an alternative source to be used in
whatever way each office sees fit for its needs.
